Overview

ocated in the heart of three unique neighborhoods-historic Pioneer Square, the International District, and SODO (South of Downtown), SAFECO FIELD is arguably the greatest baseball stadium ever built, from its fan-friendly features to its retractable roof. The stadium has been home to the Seattle Mariners baseball team since the July 15, 1999 Inaugural Game against the San Diego Padres.

As with any project of this magnitude, the process of getting the stadium built is a story in itself. This section is dedicated to the unique characteristics of SAFECO FIELD. To learn more about how the stadium was built, please visit the Construction section of this website.
